Bringing lunch from home is usually more nutritious and less expensive than going out. I know this, so I try to do the right thing. I pack leftovers or a simple salad/protein combo. But the truth is I’ve always enjoyed going out for lunch. Not only to eat but also to get some (sort of) fresh air, sunshine, and more movement.
I have plenty of healthy options near my office. One of my favourites is Bolt Fresh Bar. The gluten-free, plant-based menu has creative salad and grain bowl combos, or you can design your own. I’m addicted to the Vitamin Sea. Avocado, carrot, red cabbage, seaweed, kimchi, and hemp hearts on grains or greens, with a lemon tahini dressing. It’s delicious and definitely a step up from what I pack for myself.
They also have daily hot soups and stews plus açaí parfaits and smoothies. Check out The Dish’s review: Are High-End Smoothies Healthy? for a nutritional breakdown.
You’ll find Vams kombuchas and kefirs alongside ELXR cold-pressed juices in the back fridge and Chocosol bars at the checkout. Enough said.
Bolt is at 1170 Queen Street West. It’s the perfect refueling stop after an osteopathic treatment or a session at Float Toronto (just across the street). Bon appétit!
