WEFC is a not-for-profit co-op that brings together eaters, workers, farmers, producers, and community partner members.
One of their goals is to bring more local food to the neighbourhood. In addition to their grocery store, they also coordinate the Sorauren Farmers’ Market. Other initiatives include the Co-op Kitchen, Community Cannery, Co-op Cred, and Farm Direct programs.
You don’t have to be a member to shop, but a $5 one-time membership fee gives you access to monthly specials and 15% of all purchases on Member Appreciation Days.
Even though I know I should bring lunch from home, it’s tempting to grab a freshly made kale salad or other tasty treats from their kitchen. I can pick up everything I need for dinner too!
The West End Food Co-op is at 1229 Queen Street West, just west of Dufferin, and below the Parkdale Community Health Centre.
